Do you know where you will spend eternity?
This is the most important question in life. God says there is one. He says there are two possibilities – heaven with Him or the Lake of Fire separated from Him forever.
Most believe that God will accept you based on your personal goodness. Many think you can get there by trying to have your good outweigh your bad. The problem is that God is holy and He requires perfection to get to heaven. No one can live up to His perfect standard. One small sin is an infinite offense to Him. Sin is disobeying God in thought, word, or action. Have you ever lied? Have you lusted in your heart for another person or thing (Matt. 5:28)? Even your bad thoughts are considered sinful. And the good things we do cannot take away the bad things we have done.
The Bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). And the wages of sin is eternal death (Rom. 6:23). Our sin earns us eternal separation from God (Is. 59:2). We are helpless sinners unable to fix our situation, to pay the debt that we owe. But God, out of His love, provided the only way to restore our relationship with Him.
The GOOD NEWS is that God dealt with our sin problem. Jesus, fully God and fully Man, died a substitutionary death for us. He died in our place. He paid our sin debt so we have no debt to pay. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus), that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life”(John 3:16). He rose again on the third day proving that He has the power over sin and death.
The Bible says; “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures (I Cor. 15:3, 4). That is the gospel, good news.
Assurance of going to heaven is by believing that what Jesus has already done for you is sufficient. Don’t miss heaven by trusting in anything you can do. It is a one-time act of hearing (understanding the gospel) and believing it, which causes an irreversible change in your final destiny. No one can get there on good behavior, religious rituals, or by doing good works.
Jesus made the only acceptable payment for our sin and offers us forgiveness and life (everlasting) as a gift. Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life” (John 6:47). It’s not based on anything you do, but in what Jesus has done for you. Thus, at that moment of believing the gospel, one possesses everlasting life, has passed out of death into life, and will never be condemned (John 5:24).
Have you received the gift of everlasting life by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone? You can do it right now by agreeing with God that you are a condemned sinner helpless to save yourself. And then believe that Jesus (God in the flesh – John 1:1, 14) did all the work necessary and paid your sin debt to save you from eternal condemnation. The moment you do you are secure forever according to God’s Holy Word, the Bible. (I John 5:13) Assurance comes from believing in what God said is true.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Acts 16:31
